- A Summary Of Ice And Fire
I think maybe to some extent, the Cersei chapters reveal how the Mad King came to be such a nutcase. Like, what happens when a stupid narcissist is given a huge amount of power and has dozens of people constantly telling them contradictory information, spreading lies, rumors etc.
Cersei and Melara Hetherspoon went to see Maggy the Frog together. Only 1 girl came back and Cersei was 10. Cersei watches Melara drown. Cersei remembers her screaming and shouting and when Cersei does her walk she remembers a drenched girl with accusing eyes. Cersei was scary as a young girl and only grew worse becoming queen.
Cersei fears that it is Tyrion, but it seems entirely possible that it could be Jaime, given events in the novel. While he does not have both hands any longer, he does have a false hand, and no one says that the prophecy has to be a hundred percent accurate.
Aurane informs the council that the Golden Company has broken its contract with Myr and may be joining Stannis. Cersei assures them that Qyburn has discovered they are headed for Volantis. 4 Lord Janos has reported that Stannis is making common cause with the wildlings, but Cersei is not concerned.
Jamie has never known another woman; he loves Cersei, but Cersei only loves what he represents: a version of herself with a cock, a strong sword hand and a legal claim to Casterly Rock. She dotes on Joffrey and spoils him to the point of his own sociopathy.
