Honestly the writers screwed Vanessa over severely in the tv show adaptation. Vanessa was perfect in the books. She was rebellious, wore all black and shaved her head. Vanessa went to Constance with the gang and we had none of these plot lines in the tv show.
But let's be real here, people hated Vanessa (and still do) the second she appeared in the show, for any little thing that went against characters like Blair, who was always the fandom's darling.
