In April 1974, Ho sold The Ilikai's hotel portion, consisting of 425 rooms in the original tower and 360 rooms in the addition, to Western International for $35 million [2] and the hotel rejoined the chain. In 1980, Western International changed its name to Westin and the hotel was renamed The Westin Ilikai.
