While many other whisky companies amalgamated, William Mark Sanderson took the view that Prohibition wouldn’t last. In 1922 he bought the entire shares of Glen Garioch Distillery and a warehouse in Leith. But matters didn’t improve. William Mark died in 1929, at the height of the Great Depression.
