      • De La Salle College was opened in 1923 / 1924. Recently described as Salford's leading school, it merged with Pendleton College in 1997. This was due largely to the hostile climate spawned by the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. The merger proved to be the first step in De La Salle's ultimate demise.
