Jul 27, 2021 · On June 23, 2001, the Columbus College of Art & Design made an uncharacteristically bold move when it erected a 10-story sculpture spanning Gay Street. The bright red Art Sign was a shock coming from CCAD, something of an institutional wallflower until that point.
At that time, Columbus had three school buildings and 13 teachers. Galena had five school buildings, and the School Board soon built a High School building at a cost of $20,000. Baxter Springs had one large school building with eight teachers.
May 16, 2023 · She attended art classes at what was the Columbus Art School, now Columbus College of Art and Design, on Saturdays before attending full time after graduation. In 1974, she moved with her son, Sydney, to a home in the Shepard community where she lived and worked until she died in 2015.
