Hannibal King used to be a Vampire; turned and enslaved by Danica Talos. Approximately 6 years prior to the events of Blade: Trinity, King had a run-in with the Nightstalkers; a group of Vampire hunters led by Abigail Whistler. The nightstalkers cured Hannibal of the Vampire virus and recruited him to their cause.

Hannibal is an intelligent and quick-witted Vampire Hunter, who uses humour to ease serious and tense situations; a jockish self-defence mechanism that distances him from the reality of the dark and deadly world he lives in.

    Former Powers

As a Vampire, King would have possessed a number of superhuman abilities; including longevity, protractile fangs, superhuman strength, speed, agility and senses, invulnerability to conventional causes of fatality, and an accelerated healing factor.

    Abilities

    1. Expert Marksman 2. Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant

    Weaknesses

As a Vampire, King would have been highly sensitive to silver, garlic and ultraviolet light, and trauma such as destruction of the heart and decapitation would have proved fatal. As a Human, King no longer possesses these specific sensitivities, but is still vulnerable to the limitations of mortality.

Hannibal King was originally going to first appear in Blade II; but instead only appeared in Blade Trinity.
The movie includes the premise that Hannibal is a former vampire; having been turned by Danica, and cured by the retrovirus serum that was developed in the first Blade film.

When he was asked what it was like working with Wesley Snipes on this film, Ryan Reynolds said sincerely that "I never met Wesley Snipes on this film, not for a second. I only met Blade."
