After resigning from his position, Profumo worked as a volunteer at charity Toynbee Hall where he later became its chief fundraiser. Due to his charity work, the former politician was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1975. Profumo died in 2006 at the age of 91.
Ward was convicted of living off Keeler and another woman’s immoral earnings, but he did not live to hear the verdict – he took a fatal overdose the night before the judge finished summing up his case and the jury delivered his verdict. He died three days later.
