Florida’s grading policy is designed to assess and reflect student achievement and mastery of subject matter. The state uses a traditional grade scale for general assessments and a mastery scale for evaluating student proficiency in specific standards. The policy aims to ensure that all students meet the educational standards set by the state.
In 2021-22, a school’s grade may include up to 11 components. There are four achievement components, as well as components for learning gains, learning gains of the lowest 25% of students, middle school acceleration, graduation rate and college and career acceleration. Each component is worth up to 100 points in the overall calculation.
