Oct 23, 2011 · That typically included the overture, act one of the film, the curtain closing for intermission (with often entr’acte music) and then exit music for the audience. The movie studios and theaters really tried to make it a really a special event for these films.

When I would go to the movies (English language with Spanish subtitles), they would stop the movie around the halfway point no matter the length. Alien 3, Double Impact and The People Under the Stairs - all had forced intermissions.
