For laying down prints, there are a few pieces of screen printing equipment you’ll need, including: A press. Of course, the press is the heart of every print shop. Most shops start with a manual machine and upgrade to an automatic as they grow.
- Screen Printing Press: The first thing on your list is going to be a screen printing press. And I suggest buying an actual press rather than hinge clamps because it is easier to load the shirt on the pallet.
- Flash cure: The next thing on your list is a flash cure. This is actually an air flash. Flash cures are used as a press to do multi-color jobs. So when you are printing a multi-color job and you want to dry the ink to touch between prints, we put the flash cure over one of the pallets.
- Exposure Unit: The exposure unit has an LED vacuum top that we use to expose the screen because it is a photographic process. We need a light source particularly UV light.
- A computer: Here, you are going to need a computer with vector software. In screen printing, we use vector art that is created with Adobe Illustrator or Corel.
So, we provided a list of materials and equipment you will need: Printing screen (select a screen with a suitable mesh count). Frame (attach the screen to a frame to create a sturdy printing surface). Emulsion (apply emulsion to the screen to create a stencil for your design).
Screen Printing Equipment and costs 1. Screen printing Press. While you can easily screen print with just a mesh screen and a squeegee, a press is recommended to hold the frame in place – even if you’re printing just one color. You can start with a manual one station press for $100 or build one yourself, using some clamps for $20.
