I'm Ryan Cahill and this is my AMA! In celebration of r/ryancahill being created and completion of writing my new novella - The Ice, I will be answering questions for the next 2 or so hours. I'll answer anything surrounding my books, my life, and everything in-between.
I'll come right out and say it: this series is tropey. The protagonist Calen is basically a stereotypical paladin, going out of his way to protect people who'd probably kill him if they had the chance.

Calen spent months training with the rakina, & theris in the elven city of the dark wood. Why did he not mention to them about the penant & letter he found in the abandoned dwarven city? Or the words spoken from the Druid? I also felt like Cahill rushed at the end of book 3.
