    • ción. How it’s used: to form nouns related to verbs and processes. -ción is used in many English cognates with the suffix “-tion.” These are common nouns that can be helpful to describe academic or work activities.
    • dad. How it’s used: to form nouns related to adjectives. -dad is used in many of the same words where English might use “-ty” or “-ity.” It can also take the forms –tad, -idad or -edad.
    • mente. How it’s used: to form adverbs from related adjectives. -mente is added to the feminine form of a singular adjective to form the adverb. A simple swap for “-ly” in English will help you identify and form these adverbs.
