Conrad Ecklie is the Sheriff of Clark County, thus being the chief officer of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Ecklie was formerly the Day Shift Supervisor at the Las Vegas Crime Lab. He was promoted to Assistant Lab Director in the beginning of Season 5.

Marc Vann became a massive presence in the hearts of “CSI” fans through his portrayal of Conrad Ecklie, the Assistant Director of the crime lab. Throughout the franchise’s run, Vann graced the screen in every season, save for three and four.
Marc Vann (Ecklie) deserves more credit. I know most people dislike the character Conrad Ecklie but I have to say, he's one of the more relatable characters on the show. Very realistic.
