This document shows updates and changes to the 2016 CALGreen Code from the 2016 Intervening Cycle (blue supplement pages) effective 7/1/18. Please refer to the published code for all CALGreen provisions.
Between 2010 and 2022, continuous updates and additions have been made to CALGreen, including water conservation and recycling, electric vehicle infrastructure and charging, and changes intended to eliminate conflicts with the California Energy Code, which is Part 6 of Title 24.
The first edition became effective on January 1, 2009. In keeping with the other state updates, they issued new editions in 2010, 2013, and 2016. The latest edition, the 2019 CalGreen Code, is now available and will become effective on January 1, 2020.
CALGreen was developed to (1) reduce GHG from buildings; (2) promote environmentally responsible, cost-effective, healthier places to live and work; (3) reduce energy and water consumption; and (4) respond to the environmental directives of the administration.
