Jun 15, 2023 · We review the methods behind quantifying light pollution and ALAN, focusing on the diverse functions. We consider current challenges in determining light pollution influences at arbitrary places and predicting how it will change over time. We also provide recommendations on how the measurements can be used more comprehensively in the future.
Oct 30, 2023 · Light pollution has emerged as a burgeoning area of scientific interest, receiving increasing attention in recent years. The resulting body of literature has revealed a diverse array of species-specific and context-dependent responses to artificial light at night (ALAN).
Light pollution is most probably an important but underestimated driver behind the erosion of provisioning, e.g., loss of light-sensitive species and genotypes; regulating, e.g., decline of nocturnal pollinators such as moths and bats; and cultural ecosystem services, e.g., loss of aesthetic values such as the visibility of the Milky Way (Rich a...
May 1, 2023 · After basic introduction of light pollution, we summarized the latest updates in uncovering the links between light pollution and highly concerned health effects (e.g. cancer, obesity, and mental disorders) and relevant toxicological mechanisms.
Jan 31, 2023 · Light pollution has been measured from space, but orbiting satellites don't detect light the same way the human eye does, so they may not yield results that match what we see from the ground.
