Feb 2, 2024 · Ibn Arabi views the phenomenal world (the cosmos) as the self-disclosure of the hidden, divine mystery. Chapter 1 of The Bezels of Wisdom begins with the following statement:
Medieval list of Ibn Arabi's books. After spending time in Mecca, he traveled throughout Syria, Palestine, Iraq and Anatolia. In 1204, Ibn Arabi met Shaykh Majduddīn Isḥāq ibn Yūsuf (شيخ مجد الدين إسحاق بن يوسف), a native of Malatya and a man of great standing at the Seljuk court.
Ibn Arabi is one of the most inventive and prolific writers of the Islamic tradition, with a very large number of books and treatise attributed to him. He wrote a number of works whilst still living in Andalusia, but the majority of his writings date from the second part of his life when he was living in Mecca, Anatolia and Damascus.
