To piggyback off of this, clans can be very helpful as you gain a permanent xp buff on normal accounts from the clan citadel, you just need to do certain tasks in the citadel each week (very easy like woodcut a tree, mine ore in their mine, smelt bars, etc.).
With the new bosses came new armour and weapons yes, but these are the very best (and expensive), the gear you had however should be adequate to get back into the game. If you were able to kill bosses back then you can still kill the same bosses now, they haven’t changed.
