The Flyer. Endowment. US$ 24 Million [2] Website. waynflete.org. Waynflete School is a private, co-educational, college preparatory day school established in 1898 for early childhood education (from age three) to the 12th grade. [3] It is located in the West End of Portland, Maine.
Waynflete School was founded in 1897 as the Portland School for Girls by Agnes Lowell and Caroline Crisfield with a goal of educating girls for charitable and social service employment. The women changed its name to honor English educator William Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester and Lord Chancellor of England, and moved it in 1912 to its present location, the former Horace Dudley estate.
We believe that diversity is one of the conditions of excellence for our school. We value the individuality of our students, recognizing that each will take a different path through life. We also believe that every person can be a responsible member of the community and that this sense of responsibility deepens when we treat our students and one another with trust and respect.
