The band was formed in 1970 by Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell, and Dan Peek. Notable hits include “A Horse with No Name,” “Ventura Highway,” and “Sister Golden Hair.”. Over their career, they have released more than 20 studio albums, with their self-titled debut album “America” (1971) being a significant success.

2001-2005. The solo project of David Wayne, formed after his acrimonious departure from the reformed Metal Church. Former Metal Church guitarist Craig Wells was listed as a member of the band and credited on the debut album, but later stated that he never recorded or performed with the band. Split up following the death of David Wayne in 2005.
