Description: The Garden State Parkway Bridge over the Passaic River, US Route 46, and River Drive is being widened to provide full-width lanes and adequate shoulders. This project is intended to extend the remaining life of the structure and improve safety. Schedule: Construction began in 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

May 31, 2021 · REPLACEMENT OF CENTRAL AVENUE OVERPASS. Central Avenue traffic has been restored to its original configuration and all work zones removed. All travel lanes and turn lanes have been re-opened over the bridge. Eastbound and westbound left turns at Oraton Parkway and Whittlesey Avenue are restored.
A primary purpose of the Garden State Parkway Interchange 145 Improvements Project is to increase capacity for vehicles exiting and entering the roadway at Exit 145. The construction work will ultimately increase the exit from one lane to two exit lanes.
LOCATION HIGHLIGHTS. IMPROVEMENTS: Provide new asphalt paving, new median barrier and new lighting. CONSTRUCTION: Construction work to be performed in seven stages. There will be temporary lane width reductions within the seven stages. Work to begin on or about October 12, 2020. Contact Us.
