Description: The Garden State Parkway Bridge over the Passaic River, US Route 46, and River Drive is being widened to provide full-width lanes and adequate shoulders. This project is intended to extend the remaining life of the structure and improve safety. Schedule: Construction began in 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
These primary improvements necessitate significant bridge, utility and local road construction to achieve the Project requirements. These improvements will have the added benefit of decreasing vehicle congestion through this densely populated area of the Garden State Parkway.
This contract will also include deck repairs and resurfacing to six (6) bridges on the Garden State Parkway between Milepost 160.6 and 162.5. The work will be accomplished in stages while maintaining the flow of traffic by utilizing multiple lane shifts and a precast concrete construction barrier.
