It’s a novelization of the film written by Orson Scott Card, a brilliant writer well known for Ender’s Game. Normally, I wouldn’t ever suggest novelizations but Orson adds a massive amount of context, backstory and more to the original story.
It's one of those unforgettable movies that you dig out every year to watch. Lack of a blu-ray release could be a reason more don't watch it and talk about it. Written by Cameron himself, the film was shot by Mikael Salomon, the Danish-born cinematographer and director who later worked on HBO’s Band of Brothers and Alias, while the renowned composer Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Predator, Contact) provided the score.
