Liz was a good person, but also was enabling him. Thomas was trying to be a good person, but is young and naive and going about things in a way that doesn’t help anyone or anything, but his own sense of self. Ellie was struggling with a hard childhood and rebelling, but Charlie knew there was a good and caring person in there.
