A protégé of both Leni and Michael Curtiz, Mohr spent the earlier parts of his career as an editor and shooting newsreels and documentaries, where he learned that the camera didn’t have to be static or just sit in one spot.

Prior to 1931's DRACULA being done as simultaneous English language and Spanish productions, THE CAT CREEPS did the same thing, using DRACULA's leading lady, Lupita Tovar, and its director, George Melford, as well. Like the English language THE CAT CREEPS, the Spanish production (LA VOLUNTAD DEL MUERTO) is also a lost film.
