“Make this valley full of ditches.” Have a holy covetousness of the divine blessing. Never be satisfied with what God is doing in the conversion of souls; be grateful, but hunger after more.
Mar 4, 2019 · And he said, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’” (2 Kings 3:16) This was an unusual word from God in an unusual situation. The armies of Israel, Judah, and Edom were stuck in the hot desert and dying of thirst.
God, by him, gave them assurance that the issue of the present distress would be comfortable and glorious. (1.) They should speedily be supplied with water, 2 Kings 3:16; 2 Kings 3:17. To try their faith and obedience, he bids them make the valley full of ditches to receive the water.
Feb 27, 2013 · The first part of God’s message as given in verse 16 has been translated in two ways: “Make this valley full of ditches” (NKJV). This emphasises that the armies were to dig the ditches (or pits) and then the Lord would provide the water. “I will fill this valley with pools of water” (NIV).
2 Kings 3:16-17. Make this valley full of ditches — Which may receive the water and retain it, for the use of men and beasts. They that expect God’s blessings, must prepare room for them. Ye shall not see wind — Any of those winds which commonly bring rain.
Make this valley full of ditches: God promised to send water to the valley, but they had to dig the ditches to catch what God would provide. They had to dig the ditches before the water was apparent, so they could benefit from it when it came.
