    • What If I'm Asked For More credentials?

If you are on-campus, you can access resources immediately from library search or a database from the database lists. You will normally ‘authenticate’ (log in) with your UWE Bristol username and password when you log onto a PC or laptop on campus.

    Using UWE Bristol Workplace Connection

Some UWE Bristol devices use ‘Workplace Connection’, which recognises your credentials upon logging in and authenticates a PC/laptop as being on-campus while working off campus (i.e. from your home). If you are accessing resources this way, you can access resources immediately from library search or a database from the database lists.

    On a non-UWE Bristol device

If you are off campus, you can access resources from library search or a database from the database lists– but you will need to sign in first. You will normally authenticate (log in) with your UWE Bristol username and password via a sign-in screen – it might look like this.

    Off-campus alternative logins

If you have tried signing in through the ways listed, there are alternative routes into resources using Shibboleth and Open Athens authentication. When you are visiting a resource off campus, look out for any links which identify as Shibboleth, UK Access Management Federation orInstitutional Login. Again, look out for any links which identify as Open Athens orInstitutional Login. You can find out more about these by going to the 'alternative access methods' tab.

Some databases and journals ask for a separate username/password that is unique to the resource in question. 1. For databases use the database lists. You will be told if a separate username and password is required. 2. For e-journals search for the journal title using library search. You will be told if a separate username and password is required.
