Communism is a type of government as well as an economic system (a way of creating and sharing wealth). In a Communist system, individual people do not own land, factories, or machinery. Instead, the government or the whole community owns these things.
Article 22 of the Agreement states: 'the USSR has a flag, coat of arms and a state seal .'. On 6 July 1923, it was decided that the flag was to consist of a red cloth with the state coat of arms of the Soviet Union in the centre. The unusual flag format 1:4 was selected.
The Soviet Union wanted to create governments in Eastern Europe that were friendly. Soviet soldiers helped put Communist dictatorships in power in Romania and Bulgaria when the war was still happening.
