Aug 25, 2022 · The overall Thornton School of Music acceptance rate is approximately 20%. Some programs, like popular music, have a much lower acceptance rate. Some years, the acceptance rate into popular music at USC is less than 5%.
USC practices need-blind admission. A student’s ability to pay has no bearing on their admission. USC has a long tradition of fully meeting the USC-determined need of undergraduates through a combination of merit scholarships, need-based grants, Federal Work-Study and loans.
The only programs with different application deadlines are “Arts Leadership” and “Popular Music Teaching and Learning” (May 1 final application deadline) and all Thornton minors (October 1, 2024 and March 1, 2025).
