The UC San Diego School of Medicine is fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The school’s last accreditation review occurred in 2018, after which it received a full, eight-year term of accreditation. The next LCME accreditation visit will take place in April 2026.
The School of Medicine Academic Mall. The School of Medicine neighborhood occupies 54 acres on the southern portion of the main campus. It is bordered by Gilman Drive and Revelle College to the west, Gilman Drive and University Center to the north, Villa La Jolla Drive and the San Diego VA Medical Center to the east, and La Jolla Village Drive to the south.

An estimated 2.2 million Californians live in areas designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration as Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA).
