Earlier this year I fell victim to a scam, losing £7,800. A fraudster posed as a representative of the cinema chain Cineworld and messaged me on WhatsApp to offer me work (which I now know was bogus) as a film reviewer. At first I was paid small amounts.

Dec 1, 2023 · Dorset Police said the ads are purported to be posted by a representative from a movie chain, claiming they are looking for people to watch new release movies at home and write reviews in exchange for payment.
The scam requires you to have money already to cover the check. If you have $5 in your check account, you won't be able to do anything with the cash and it will just bounce eventually, but if you have $5000 in your account and deposit the $1800 check, you have cash of your own to play their game.

My experience of Unison was very poor. The rep lacked even the most basic knowledge of employment law, would not write any emails and spent more time in management meetings than with staff who needed them. They don't want to make any waves and only want to take on cases which further their own political agenda.
