Unfinished Sky is a 2007 drama film written and directed by Peter Duncan. William McInnes stars as John Woldring, an Australian farmer living in self-imposed exile after his wife's death, who rescues and protects Tahmeena, played by Monic Hendrickx , an Afghani refugee who has escaped abusive local townsfolk.
Ever since John’s wife died in suspicious circumstances, he has become a recluse. The appearance of this disturbed foreign woman is the last thing he needs. This is a polar-opposites-attract scenario, played in slow time, with baby book English lessons and a nosey cop stalking the undergrowth.

Sadly, Unfinished Sky is a film that incorporates flashbacks to the detriment of my viewing experience. It slowed the action down; there were other ways to reveal insights about these characters. My last critique was the blue sky as the chosen motif for the film.
Honest Australian Outback sheep-farmer John Woldring leads an isolated life. Suddenly an exotic women turns up at night, armed and frightened out of her wits. He takes her in, grumpily. Gradually he finds out she's an Afghan refugee, looking for other illegally emigrated relatives.
