“Give a man or woman back his self-respect, and in most cases-not all, but most-you also give back that person's ability to think with at least some clarity.” ― Stephen King, quote from Under the Dome
I am a huge King fan and have read all of his books. Some are definitely better than others. I liked Under the Dome, but also was disappointed in the ending. Some must reads in my opinion by Stephen King: -The Stand. Very long. Very complex, lots of characters like Under the Dome.
I do feel like some of his endings, like for dome or the stand, are abrupt in comparison to the whole saga, but the concepts are otherwise fine. I think the complaints about how IT ends throws me off, I thought that ending was beautiful.
Important Quotes. “His last thought before the darkness that comes to us all, chucks and humans alike: What happened?” (Chapter 1, Page 5) The suddenness of the Dome’s descent catches both animals and humans by complete surprise. These last thoughts of a woodchuck ambling between the border of Chester’s Mill and the outside world are of shock.
Anything is worth your time if you want to have a valid opinion on it and want to know exactly why something is bad. That said, Under The Dome the show was absolutely horrible. Suffered from CBS primetime syndrome, I think. The book is a pretty solid late King novel.
