Initially an all-boys school, Gilmour welcomed its first students in the fall of 1946 and graduated its first class in 1950. At the time, classes were conducted primarily in Tudor House, with additional space established in the property’s remaining farm outbuildings.

Today, the home, known as the Tudor House, sits on the campus of Gilmour Academy. Surprisingly, Drury and his wife Julia only lived here for about a year. Cedar Hill Farm is where Drury and his wife relocated to after living on Euclid Avenue for less than 15 years.
In 1944, the Brothers of the Holy Cross purchased the 33-acre estate to establish the private boys' Catholic School GILMOUR ACADEMY. The 14-room gatehouse was converted into dorms. The Tudor home housed the school’s library, classrooms, and dining hall.
The Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music was formed in August 1955 from the merger of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, formed in 1867 as part of a girls' finishing school, and the College of Music of Cincinnati, which opened in 1878.
