Touch of Evil is a 1958 American FILM NOlR written and directed by Orson Welles, who also stars in the film. The screenplay was loosely based on the contemporary Whit Masterson novel Badge of Evil (1956).
This is an acknowledged masterpiece, and everyone should see it at least once. It is based on the novel BADGE OF EVIL by Robert Allison "Bob" Wade (1920-2012) and H. Bill Miller (1920-61) using the pseudonym Whit Masterson. The screenplay is by Orson Welles. who also directed this film noir classic.
