Toadstool Geologic Park is located in the Oglala National Grassland in far northwestern Nebraska. It is operated by the United States Forest Service. It contains a badlands landscape and a reconstructed sod house. [1]
Many wildflowers await the visitor to this unique geological feature. Species encountered in the spring are Missouri milk vetch (Astragalus missouriensis), shell-leaf penstemon (Penstemon grandiflorus), gumbo lily (Oenothera caespitosa), and death camas (Zigadenus spp.).

What a fantastic place to hike and explore, easy to moderate for all of the trails, with beautiful panoramic vistas, unique geological formations, and abundant wildlife. . This is one of the best places I have gone for solo hiking in years.

At the western edge of Nebraska sits an area of rugged sandstone rock formations known as Toadstool Geologic Park. For just $3 a car, visitors can be transported back 30 million years to a time when sabertooths and eight-foot tall rhino-like animals roamed the area.
Oct 22, 2017 · Toadstool Geologic Park got its name from the crazy rock formations that you can find throughout the park, many of which look like giant mushrooms. People often refer to the park as the “badlands of Nebraska”, and I can certainly see why!
