Thomas Seymour, 1st Baron Seymour of Sudeley, KG, PC (c. 1508 – 20 March 1549) was a brother of Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII. [1] With his brother, Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset and Lord Protector of England, he vied for control of their nephew, the young King Edward VI (r. 1547–1553).
Thomas Seymour, Baron Seymour was the lord high admiral of England from 1547 to 1549. His political intrigues led to his execution for treason and thereby contributed to the downfall in 1549 of his elder brother, Edward Seymour, duke of Somerset, who was lord protector (regent) for the young king.

It was a sad end to a man who had been the brother of one queen, the husband of another (when she was queen dowager), uncle of the King, a leading courtier, privy councillor and Lord Admiral.
