It is one of three schools founded in 1558 from the will of Thomas Alleyne. It has four different coloured houses: Elkes (Red), Orme (Green), Torrance (Blue) and Whitmore (Yellow).
Oct 16, 2018 · Alleyne’s School in Stone (now known as Alleyne’s Academy) has a long and distinguished history, having been founded by Thomas Alleyne in 1558. Alleyne, a priest by calling, was clearly committed to education in that as well as founding the school in Stone he founded others, which went by the same name, in Uttoxeter and Stevenage.
We are proud to belong to a school with so much history. We have an active alumni association with members ranging in age from 19 to 102 years old. The Old Alleynians host a regular dinner and maintain an interest in the development of our academy.

Alleyne's Grammar School was founded in 1558 by Rev. Thomas Alleyne. The Masters and Fellows of Trinity College Cambridge were made trustees. The first school building was located near to St. Michael's Church and was used until 1843.
