Air Force Academy conducts specialist training for all Ground Duty (Non-technical) branches of the Indian Air Force. If you have joined the Administrative, Logistics, Weapon Systems, Accounts, Education or Meteorology branch, you will be trained at Air Force Academy for a year.
Indian Air Force Academy, Dundigal (ICAO: VODG) is a Defence Service training institute located in Medchal-Malkajgiri district 43 km (27 mi) from Hyderabad, in the Indian state of Telangana. [2] The academy was set up to train cadets from Indian Airforce Service cadre officers.
The Commandant of the Academy is a Three-star rank officer holding the rank of Air marshal. He is supported by the Deputy Commandant, a Two star appointment, the Chief Instructor (Flying) (Air Commodore rank officer) and the Chief Ground Instructor (Air Commodore rank officer).
The academy was set up to train cadets from all streams at one location. It imparts training to the Flying, Technical and Ground Duty Branches of the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and friendly countries. The induction of India's own jet trainer, the Kiran took place between Oct-Dec 1973.
