FACULTIES AND ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS. AMU’s theatre faculty was established in 1945 and is thus the oldest university-level theatre faculty in the Czech Republic. Since its establishment, the conception and instructional trends at DAMU have undergone a complex development, in which societal transformations are reflected especially strongly.
The instruction is organised in the form of lectures, exercises and workshops. The standard programme duration is at least three and at most four years. Programmes are duly completed by passing a state final examination, part of which is the oral defence of the Bachelor’s thesis.

The Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU) is a modern, university-level art school. It is home to artistic personalities with a broad cultural perspective and an intense desire to pursue the oppor tunity to integrate theatrical knowledge and skill with artistic experiment.
Department of Dramatic Theatre. The department offers a four-year Masters’ level acting programme and a Bachelors’ (three-year) programme for directing and dramaturgy in Czech language with a subsequent Masters' (two-year) programme.
The Department of Dramatic Theatre (Czech: Divadelní fakulta Akademie múzických umění v Praze, abbreviated DAMU) is one of three departments at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (alongside the Film and TV school and the Department of Music).
