After failing to reconcile with his ex-wife, McNulty goes on a drinking binge and tries to drive home drunk. After he crashes his car and cuts his hand, McNulty eats at a diner and ends up having a one-night stand with the waitress. While drinking with Bunk, he expresses a desire to work murder cases again.
He gets drunk and tries to drive home from the bar. When he crashes into a bridge abutment while turning a corner he refuses to believe he misjudged the turn, reverses back and hits it again. He ends up in a diner and goes home with his waitress.
This episode contains examples of: Bestiality Is Depraved: When one of the stevedores labels Ziggy "sick" for bringing a duck in a bar and feeding it liquor, Ziggy retorts he's hardly the first man in South Baltimore to try and buy the affections of a farm animal.
