The central wedding plot involving Josh Lawson and Isabel Lucas is fun, but the real meat and potatoes is the fascinating and funny grid of family relationships that develop within the plot. It's here that we get some great performances, some genuine comic moments and some real insight into the 'under the sheets' psyche of middle Australia, who by the way, are going to love this film.
Funny at times but not quite what I want; at least the music is good. How I feel about this movie isn't that important, because I believe it is a movie a lot of people will like. I didn't enjoy that much of it, but there were highlights for me, and plenty of good comedy. Just not enough. What I liked more than anything else was the music.
The Wedding Party has an interesting story behind it. It was a joint effort between Sarah Lawrence theater professor Wilford Leach and two of his students, Brian De Palma and Cynthia Monroe. Stanley Borden, owner of American Films, as well as De Palma's mentor and employer, let the young director make the movie on company time.
Jun 6, 2017 · The plot of The Wedding Party isn’t anything original or groundbreaking, but what is groundbreaking is the film itself. The movie was captured in one single, continuous 119 minute take. The story of the film is something we’ve seen a thousand times before. A wedding doesn’t go as planned and you have all the clichéd characters you expect.
The Wedding Party is director Amanda Jane’s debut feature and is a funny and touching romantic comedy. Steve’s life is a mess – his business is going under, his plan to raise the cash he needs at the roulette table has unsurprisingly not been a success and he and his girlfriend Jacqui are taking a break from their relationship.
