His mother was overprotective ; his father conspicuously absent. He knows that he must face the mockery, refusal, ignorance and blindness of the men around him.
A strange story of Jesus (Clémenti), before his passion. His mother Marie (Zouzou) cannot get him out of the house to do his proselytizing, but eventually he takes bullhorn in hand and gets rejected at every door.

Jan 24, 2018 · Elemental, mysterious, and nearly overpowering in its widescreen imagery and moving camera, The Virgin’s Bed stars Garrel’s friends/collaborators Pierre Clement and Zouzou as Christ and Mary Magdalene.
Garrel and his cast and crew shot Virgin’s Bed in summer ’68 (reportedly under the influence of acid and without a script), just a few months after the bouleversement. The filmmakers loosely adapt the Biblical story of Jesus, using Christ as a metaphoric symbol of the late ’60s protest movement: the “ultimate hippie.”.
