User Reviews. This is an offbeat, often funny film about a taxman who is investigating a crime when he meets a Russian family and eventually begins to care about them. There are twists but it is mostly a character driven film. Joe Pantoliano is (as usual) great as the taxman. Elizabeth Berkley does a good job as the Russian daughter.
Taxman: Directed by Avi Nesher. With Joe Pantoliano, Wade Dominguez, Elizabeth Berkley, Michael Chiklis. A tax investigator chasing a tax evader stumbles over a series of bloody murders and gets involved in an investigation with a rookie cop despite his boss' orders to stay out of the way.

Directed by Avi Nesher. In life only two things are certain, death and taxes. After a homocide that the police believe is over gasoline theft, a tax investigator discovers the Russian mafia is involved and that they are stealing millions in gasoline tax money.
