In the show, the Master is looking for a new body because of his sun damage, while it happens differently in the books. I don't recall Setrakian ever using eye drops in the books. Eph and Nora don't experiment on that couple. Quinlan's arc has been different than the book's so far.
The finale of the series takes place in a completely different location altogether from the ending in the books. In the original story, it's revealed that thanks to some divine angelic origins (we'll get to that) the Master was born on one of the Thousand Islands in Lake Ontario.
