Most of the film is engagingly honest. There's a sad, funny scene in the motel room as Jerry mechanically undresses Pookie. There's a good scene in the fraternity house when Pookie gets drunk. A finely acted performance by Tim McIntire, as Jerry's roommate.
Cuckoo. Reluctantly, 17-year-old Gretchen leaves her American home to live with her father, who has just moved into a resort in the German Alps with his new family.
