The Shift is not a perfect film. There is a large amount of character- and world-building to be covered in 115 minutes, which leaves certain plot points and motivations underserved. While ambitious, the story could have benefited from a narrower focus. However, The Shift is highly entertaining, innovative, and thought provoking.

Dec 8, 2023 · The Shift pretty much follows the story of the Book of Job as Kevin is the analog of Job where everything’s been taken from him (his riches, his humanity, his wife), but he still maintains his faith in God. Through those years, Kevin has become somewhat of a folk hero, helping people in what’s basically an atheist reality learn about the word of God.
