An odd group of people find themselves aboard the Ghost, a sailing schooner captained by the hard taskmaster, Wolf Larson. George Leach is the on the run from the police as is Ruth Webster who has escaped from a women's penitentiary.
Tense, gritty, and low-key exciting adaptation of the Jack London seafaring novel. After 5 minutes in dock, all the action thereafter is on board the Ghost. Edward G. Robinson is great as Wolf Larsen, a snarlingly sadistic sea captain, it is his film from the moment he arrives on screen.
