The river is a focus for the Shrewsbury Regatta and Dragon Boat Races in May and June. As The Quarry is open space close to the town centre, it is often used in civic festivals, such as the annual Darwin Festival.
‘The QUARRY’ is Set in stunning, peaceful surroundings of gardens, parklands and open space with quick and easy access to the river and the historic county town, Charles Darwin’s birthplace. Here the River Severn surrounds the entire town centre forming a giant horseshoe.

The park lies in the center of an almost-closed loop of the Severn River. There is a nice section for children, complete with toys, a great walkway along the river, but our principal attraction was the Dingle, with its flowering plants and pond.
