Ladd plays Ed Beaumont, wing man and best friend to criminal political operative Paul Madvig (Donlevy) who is supporting the election of reform mayoral candidate Ralph Henry (Moroni Olsen) mainly because he’s head over heels for his daughter Janet (Veronica Lake).
